A Word from our Director

At the crossroads of the influences that foster new works of art for young audiences, the Festival Les Coups de Théâtre offers, for its 11th edition, one of the most exceptional selections of productions ever brought together in Montreal. These works reflect the diversity in creating new works in existence today, linking the performing arts with young audiences.

A celebration of imagination and creativity, the Festival Les Coups de Théâtre invites Montrealers to take part in a real adventure of discovery. From November 15 to 28, companies bringing new works from Europe, Oceania and America will mark their visit here by offering you a selection of unique shows, each one alive with a real passion for childhood and its wealth of mysteries.

The 2010 edition marks Australia’s entrée into the Festival and highlights the work of Jasmine Dubé with a “hats off” to the author and to Théâtre Bouches Décousues, the company she directs. Thematic meetings targeting professionals as well as a series of parallel activities will take place throughout the two weeks of festivities.

A heartfelt thanks to our partners, in particular the Agora de la danse, Usine C, Tangente, Place des Arts, the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique, the Grande Bibliothèque, the Centre des auteurs dramatiques, the Maisons de la culture Plateau Mont-Royal and Frontenac, the Studio-théâtre L’Illusion, as well as the Monument National and, in Quebec City, the Gros Becs.

Les Coups de Théâtre, an event for young audiences that is unparalled in Canada, has been identified by several hundred artists from Quebec and elsewhere as essential to the development of the arts aimed at new audiences.  Bon Festival!
