“ No power, a little knowledge, some wisdom,
and as much flavour as possible. ”
Roland Barthes

This quote by Roland Barthes has inspired us throughout the preparation for the 2004 Edition of Les Coups de Théâtre.

Here is a programming filled with some fifteen tasty and contrasting dishes and many discoveries such as the Finnish choreographer Jyrki Karttunen for his first visit to North America.

Let's map out some highlights as reference points: the long awaited return of Dutch director Hans van den Boom as the
Festival opener; Hélène Blackburn's latest work with Cas Public; a premiere production for toddlers by the Théâtre de Quartier of Montréal's tandem Gionet-Lavigne; an opera for young audiences by composer Isabelle Panneton with an original libretto by Anne Hébert a creation of Les Coups de Théâtre with L'Opéra de Montréal and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne.

In 2004, more than ever, the Festival Les Coups de Théâtre gives its unconditional support to creative artists from every artistic fields.
